Assignment: Design a low-tech product that “slows down rainwater.”

The goal was not only to highlight the value of water but also to give users a sense of achievement through sustainable living.

The initial concept was a rain barrel integrated with a toilet, called the Tinkle Tank. This product encourages users to use rainwater instead of tap water, while also offering a sense of freedom, by allowing people to pee outdoors. The barrel features a tap for flushing, and the downspout serves a dual function: collecting rainwater and acting as a toilet drain when connected to the sewer system.

Building on this idea, the concept evolved into the Raintap—a rain barrel with an integrated sink. I concluded my internship by developing several Raintap prototypes. Over the past two years, the Raintap has continued to evolve and now includes an additional tap and a foot pump for improved usability.
