FUTURE
I know this time is the right period for continuous personal development and critical self-reflection I need right now. During my master’s in Industrial Design, I will be working on developing competencies in a domain relevant to the company or institution (Research Design and Development, RDD track). Within my master's, I want to focus on the expertise areas Creativity & Aesthetics, User & Society, and Technology & Realization. This means I will be learning to design and realize human interactive systems and to operate within a business context. I am driven by the context of contemporary societal challenges and therefore most interested in the department cluster of ‘systemic change’.
In the future I see myself working on concepts and innovative projects, rather than managing and scaling products that are ready for the market. My ambition is to further my career within an international interdisciplinary design environment, a 'gesamtkunstwerk' that stimulates, challenges and inspires me to delve deeper, explore wider, and aim higher. Ideal, a combined studio and workshop environment that operates as a unique ecosystem in design innovation. In my opinion, nothing is more stimulating than being surrounded by people that share the same passion, are all unique in their own way, and work towards a common goal.
Furthermore, a quote from a Greek philosopher from c.535 – 475 BC that supports my future is ‘’No man ever steps in the same river twice, for it is not the same river and he is not the same man.’’ (Heraclitus). This statement connotes that everything is undergoing a consistent process of change. Therefore, to my perception, a good designer knows how to adapt and to make solutions feasible that were previously beyond imagination. This means I need to keep stretching my future perspective and overall understanding.
